The 90s soup
2022
In this project,, I delve into a collective experiences of multiple people living in Soviet Union in the 90s. The new times brought confusion and instability. Factories closed, unemployment rose, and the economy unraveled.
Bigger families faced a constant struggle to make ends meet, the quest for food became a daily challenge. Money had no value, people got coupons to get the essentials like flour, sugar, and bread. There was no war, but it felt like one with the daily limits and survival.
The new search of identity started to split the community in two: those who dreamed about the new future and those who remembered about the better past.
The project is processing (video installation) of the time and the process of creating a new identity, new Venus (sculpture).
